Phantasm

This is a series of works I began in 2017.  They are unique among my other works because the steel is obscured.

I drew my inspiration from the work of Nick Cave, Dale Chihuly and Theodor Seuss Geisel. These pieces are designed to resemble tall flower stalks 

enlarged to a fantastic scale.

They consist of painted paper that was cut, wet-formed and bound using bookbinding techniques. The paper forms were attached to an upright curved steel rod that was welded into a base.

The sculptures are stable and will sway slightly when touched.
